FIVE STAR CREDIT UNION, DOTHAN, AL

Five Star Credit Union’s Main Office was built in 1965 and in it’s original state at the time of it’s renovation. The credit union was in urgent need of interior and exterior building renovations to meet current industry standards and member expectations. Additionally, updated retail branding for the credit union was to be implemented.

Located in a historic district, it was imperative that updated branding and building improvements satisfy local historic district ordinances, and still convey the sophistication of a state-of-the-art financial center. Financial Facilities worked to establish a brand image that honored the credit unions historical brand assets while meeting current brand identity needs.

The project was carried out in three phases, beginning with the second floor administrative areas. As the main branch headquarters, this location provided administrative and executive office space for a number of Five Star employees. The newly updated offices are spacious and functional, and provide for expanding technologies as they arise.

The second phase focused on exterior improvements to the parking lot, drive-thru’s and landscaping. Building branding into new building elements was critical in this project as they would need to satisfy local building requirements, yet remain flexible enough to be incorporated into other and future branch locations. This new exterior provides excellent visibility with impressive signage, advanced drive-thru technologies and beautiful landscaping.

The more challenging task of remodeling the branch member services area was left for last. As a working facility, it was necessary to manage the project in a way that did not disrupt daily business or cause stress or inconvenience to members and credit union staff. The project was completed successfully, on time and on budget, with the client occupying the building and servicing members during all phases of construction.
